Why we cycle

Here is another quote for you. It is from a bike journal by a young American girl when she was about halfway on her trip across the US;

The best of Diana Johnson

"As I cycled away I thought to myself: Bike touring really does rock my socks off. I like the challenge, the adventure, the lack of a safety net, the daily confrontation of my own fears and doubts.

I love the feeling of commitment - in total commitment I find total freedom. I love the connections I make and the feeling of celebration. I love the fortitude this life requires, and the self-reliance. I love the simplicity of this life, and the unexpected moments of grace. I love the risk and the uncertainty. Not knowing where I'll sleep tonight, or where I'll be tomorrow - these unknowns makes me giddy. I love being alone and emerging from the loneliness with a new appreciation for the company of others, as imperfect as we both may be."
